Join this Drakensberg rock art experience which consists of an online course and weekend field event. We want to understand and experience San/Bushman rock art in the iconic Drakensberg landscape. Jeremy Hollmann will reveal the meaning of the art of the oldest human beings in the Drakensberg using his deep life-long studies. Meet Jeremy at the weekend event based at the highly rated Antbear Lodge; he will guide a bucket-list immersion into the art and lives of the Bushmen; show-cased at the world-famous Game Pass Shelter paintings, the so-called Rosetta Stone of rock art.
The on-line course comprises three sessions (75-90 mins) at 11am or 7pm on Monday 1st, Wednesday 3rd and Friday 5th November. The field event runs from Friday 19th to midday Sunday 21st November at Antbear Lodge.
The on-line course includes notes and gives you options of viewing recorded links or switching between sessions.
It is a special feeling to visit ancient rock art sites and spend time in the presence of the symbols of an ancient tradition. There are many different traditions of rock art– paintings and engravings – across the subcontinent. We’re spoilt for choice in southern Africa!
Let Jeremy Hollmann take you to some of the world’s best rock art at Game Pass Shelter in Kamberg Nature Reserve.
Jeremy gives presentations on rock art topics to a variety of audiences, from syllabus-related presentations to school students, school outings to rock art sites, to special interest audiences, including seminars and lectures.
